Q&A With Vanessa

What are you excited about in your life right now?
I’m super excited for Halloween and for snow! Assuming that it will snow.

Would you consider yourself as a night owl or an early bird?
Although I would like to be an early bird, I am definitely a night owl. Why is it so easy to stay up late, but so hard to get up early?!

Would you describe yourself as messy, or neat?
I would say I lean more towards the neat side as I’m naturally pretty good at being organized, but my room definitely has its moments.

What Karaoke song would you sing where you don’t need the monitor
Tough question, but I’d have to go with Islands in the Stream. Although, I do have a knack where I know almost all of the lyrics to a song after listening to it once so anything could work.

If you were a hip hop artist what would your stage name be?
V-dawg, but if I’m being honest it’s more of a nickname since my family already calls me that.

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Hit snooze until I actually decide to wake up then check my phone. I’m trying to change that though.

If you could switch lives with a person, who would it be?
Lisa Ling! I’ve always been fascinated by journalism and her stories are always super interesting. I would love to travel and discover new things as often as she does.

What’s your spirit animal?
Elephant. There’s something there. Not sure what it is, but it’s there.

We love boardgames at CMPNY – What’s your favourite boardgame?
Scrabble!

Do you have a middle name?
Yes, it’s Marie. The same as most females that I know.

Have you ever broken a bone?
Luckily, I haven’t.

Do you have siblings?
I have an older brother named Nathan, but we are actually only 16 months apart. He played hockey his whole life growing up, so as a result, I spent a lot of my childhood at the ice rink.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Coquitlam! I’ve actually lived in the same house my whole life, minus when I studied abroad.

Who do you look up to?
So many people, but mostly my parents. They’ve shown me that through working hard you can make your life what you want it to be.

Do you still have your wisdom teeth?
Yes, but not for long! I’m getting them removed next month.

What’s the next thing on your bucket list?
So many things! Up first would be getting my degree, but after that who knows. I definitely want to travel more and live abroad again. Also, learning an instrument would be cool, but I don’t know if I have the patience.

What are you looking forward to at CMPNY?
I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and having the chance to learn and build new skills. I hope to contribute to the collaborative work environment and learn from it!
